Devin Mesoraco. He's been doing better of late in Dayton. Started the year in extended spring training. He went 2-4 tonight. I still think you'd like to see your #1 pick doing better than what he's currently doing at the Low A level.

I can't wait till this weekend. The Lookouts are in Sevierville. I plan on taking in at least 1, if not 2 of those games. I'm hoping Travis Wood is scheduled to pitch this weekend.

I'm still trying to figure out why they drafted a high school catcher in the first round.

Catchers at all are a tough pick early because of the chance of injury. One reason Posey may not go #1 is because its hard to take a player #1 thats not projected to be an impact player. He could help the Rays, but he's not going to be a .315 40 homer type guy. Solid catcher who could come up through the minors quickly and will probably hit .275 with 20 homers a year or something.

I can say this about Posey--he's so versatile, that even if he's not panning out as a catcher in the minors, he could switch positions and help someone out as a 3B, middle infielder, or a RF. He's got enough speed to do all of that, plus his arm would lend itself pretty good to RF or 3B. His bat's not going to be a problem, the guy's going to hit the ball well whenever he comes up through any organization.

7teen/PVFAN...any word on who the Reds will pick w/the #7 overall slot? I've heard anybody from Yonder Alonso to Gordon Beckham to Aaron Crow. Any "inside" word on the Reds message boards?

Another rumor is a ss from Canada. Personally I'm hoping they draft Gordon Beckham. Reds play at 1 today and the draft is at 2 should be a fun day.

Posey has actually played every position at some point this season for FSU.

Against Savannah State, earlier this season. Hit a grand slam in that game too.

It was against Savannah State though...no way he could have done that against an ACC team. Interesting tidbit--Mike Martin likes to do that with his players--4 different FSU players have done that, and only 4 all time in the majors has a player done that.

That being said--Posey's versatile enough to learn just about any position and make it on the big league level. He just needs to pick one (or the Giants need to pick one) and stick with it.
